Faisalabad Places of Interest


The city has a number of sites of interest including several colonial-era buildings, two major sports stadiums, several public parks and amusement parks.


Faisalabad Clock Tower


The Faisalabad Clock Tower is a clock tower in Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan, & is one of the oldest monuments still standing in its original state from the British Raj Era. It was built by the British, when they ruled much of the South eastern continent during the nineteenth century.

The locals refer to it as "Genta Ghar" (Urdu) which translates into Hour House in English. It is located in the older part of the city. The clock is placed at the center of the eight markets that from a birds eye view look like the Union Jack flag of the United Kingdom. This special layout still exists today and can be viewed using the latest software from Google Maps.

During festivals of Eid and Independence Day the mayor (nazim) of Faisalabad delivers a speech at this site and hangs the flag at full mast.


Chenab Club


The Chenab Club is one of the prime recreation clubs in Faisalabad, Pakistan. It was the first social clubs that Faisalabad (then known as Lyallpur) ever had during the nineteenth century when the city was formed. It still exists today and is used by the elite society of Faisalabad.


Faisalabad Railway Station


Faisalabad Railway Station is the main railway station built during the British reign around the nineteenth century. The station is used to take people to all parts of Pakistan from Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar and many more cities and towns of Pakistan.

A large amount of cargo is exported and imported into Faisalabad with many deliveres a day from all parts of the Pakistan.


Gumti Water Fountain


The Gumti Water Fountain is another monuments still preserved from the British Raj era. It was built during the early nineteenth century and was a general meeting place of the city folk for local town meetings. It is located in Faisalabad, Pakistan.

Today the sturucture still exists and has been turned into a roundabout for traffic with the water fountain still working at the center.


Qaisery Gate (Rail Bazar)


The Qaisery Gate was the gate into the eight markets with the Faisalabad Clock Tower at the center. It was built in 1857 under the commission of the British Raj. The entrance itself is made of reinforced concrete and painted pale yellow and light brown to give it a moghal look. The gate orginial markings are still viewable at the top with the name and the date of when consturted.

The gate is directly in front of the Faisalabad Gumti in the older part of the city. The gate and the Gumti is located on Railway Road, a large market for bathroom furniture and many banks.

Rex City


Rex City is the second largest computer market of Punjab located near Saleemi Chowk, Satyana Road Faisalabad, Pakistan. It is a shopping hub of IT related products in the region.

Pirated software CDs and DVDs from China used to be rampant in Rex City. But, a recent Police and Customs raid on the shops selling pirated CDs has put things under control.


Faisalabad Hockey Stadium


Faislabad Hockey Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Faisalabad, Pakistan. It is currently used mostly for field hockey matches.

It is located at Susan Road, a major shopping and restaurant area.

Iqbal Cricket Stadium


Iqbal Stadium is a Test cricket ground in Faisalabad, Pakistan. Previous names for the ground include Lyallpur Stadium, National Stadium, and City Stadium. The current name honours Pakistani poet Sir Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Capacity is 25,000.


Mansoorabad


Mansoorabad is a locality in Faisalabad, the third largest city of Pakistan.[citation needed] Its population is 5 lacs approx. It is situated between the Faisalabad - Lahore railway line and a canal (Rakh Branch). It is situated between Nishatabad and Abdullahpur.

It has a M.C Girls High School and many government primary schools. Many private English middle schools are also located here. It has many famous markets like Main bazaar, Dippu Wala bazaar, and Sadar bazaar. There are many power looms, which provide employment to local population.

Jinnah Garden


Jinnah Garden is a beautiful and one of the central parks in the city commonly known as "Company Bagh". The park also contains the tomb of H.E Sir Charles James Lyall, who was the founder of this city and the city was first named Lyallpur in his honour. However, later it was renamed to Faisalabad.

Sindbad


Sindbad is an amusement park in Faisalabad, Pakistan. It has an indoor bumper cars and large gaming arcade for all ages. It is located near the Iqbal Stadium that is used for national and international cricket matches.

The opening times are usually in the evenings during the summer and earlier in the winters. The tickets are available at the gate and you do not have to pre-book, however it is advised to be early during weekends when it can get busy. There are also restaurants located inside and outside for any meal of the day.

There are more Sindbad parks located in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

China Town


China Town is an outdoor theme park for children and families located in Faisalabad, Pakistan. There are many rides ranging from the rocking ship, water rides and some roundabouts. The theme park is located near the Iqbal Stadium where local and international cricket teams come to play. The themepark opens in the evening in the summers when the weather is cooler.

Batala Colony


Batala Colony is an area in southern Faisalabad, Pakistan. It comprises a posh residential area with various educational institutes, parks and markets. The famous Satyana Road passes through Batala Colony which is the second biggest jewelry market of the city.
